The Greeks had many gods and goddesses, but I thought Hermes (the messenger god) was the only one with wings, and his wings were on his shoes, lol. But maybe this was another goddess or lady in Greek mythology; if they had so many gods, why would they need angels?
This piece is really pretty; I would have loved to see a head and face on her. I love how her dress/gown flows on her so delicately. Being able to that kind of detail into that and into her wings takes a great amount of skill. So beautiful!
Did the Greeks confuse an Angel with a Goddess...or are they one in the same?
To them i dont think there was much of a difference. Would this have been a queen or just believe to be a goddess of a certain object?
